HANSI KÜRSCH
Hansi Kürsch is the lead singer of one of the world’s famous metal bands, Blind Guardian, having more than 20 studio releases (singles, albums and DVDs).
He sang on the song “To Lose the Sun” of Reversing Time album, which tells the story of a father, willing to reverse the time, in a hope to prevent his son’s death due to his sickness. As he and Blind Guardian are long time favorites of Dreamtone & Iris Mavraki’s Neverland, it was an honor to have Hansi singing on one of our compositions.
- "Neverland" is a world of fantasy, where children don't grow up and
where good and happy endings are numerous. How can you describe your own Neverland?
Neverland means pure inspiration to me. In general it is the ultimate
and essential quality of a human being 's brain and the final key to
progression and evolution in a positive sense.
- You had Dreamtone to support you for several gigs in Turkey in 06' and
07', what was your reaction when you first heard about this project of
Dreamtone & Iris Mavraki's and your invitation?
Ignoring the simple fact how nice all these guys are I overall had the
chance to realize how ambitious they are. It is admirable to see how a
young band really tries to set their creative path in an economically
difficult enviroment and is willing to explore and learn. I am able to
figure talent and quality in everyone who has been involved in the
project. I also loved the idea of having an established female vocalist
like Iris as the center element to create a real synergy between
Metal,classic and folklore music.
- What were the problems that you faced while recording your song? It is
stated at Dreamtone & Iris Mavraki's Neverland's blogs that you had lots of problems, even some
divine interventions regarding storms in Europe.
I quickly forget, because I do not look back. But, hell yes, now that
you have mentioned it some of it comes back to my mind. I in many cases
turn down requests for guest appearances, because I know about the
difficulties to match a time schedule. Even though I from the beginning
asked for a quite generous headroom to accomplish the Dreamtone & Iris Mavraki's Neverland song my
Blind Guardian activities crossed most of my plans to finalize the
promised vocal performance for "ToLose the Sun". I nevertheless had setup
5, or 6 recording sessions with Charlie Bauerfeind to redeem my duties
during this period, but either I or Charlie were stucked in something.
So we never got together and time was really running out. At the very
end it literally was a heavy Thunderstorm, I think it was "Kyril" which
kept me away from doing it. The storm destroyed half of the studio
building and I was stucked in a massive traffic jam. The whole situation
was "Wizard of Oz" like. During the storm I had been both: Dorothy and
the wicked witch of the East. Thank god Axel Rudi Pell was ahead of
schedule when he booked Charlie for a longer period. I at the very last
moment got a chance to sing the song while Charlie was booked by a
different band and woked in a different studio. We did the song in the
early morning hours of a regular Axel Rudi Pell production day. If Axel
would not have been so kind giving me the chance to waste their studio
time, I would have lost that race.
- Could you describe the beauty of music, the beauty it reflects in your
very own mind?
I think, that 's not possible and would not be fair. Beauty is just one
of the qualities music contains. Music has given me hope, love and
shelter in many various cases. So I still consider it the strongest tool
in art to express, create and awake emotions.
- What was the thing that you liked most about "Reversing Time"?
There are several like for instance the High Quality Metal Music, the
numerous amount of brillant melodies, the surprising introduction of no
metal elements and the brillant weave in of Dreamtone & Iris Mavraki's Neverland's origin.
